Hoolie 2 Compact Terra Nova - Tunnel tent 3 years in

IMMERSIVE VERSION . For Core Subscribers, the people who cannot get out today. I hope you enjoy this version Rest of desc is about the Tent I purchased this tent In December 2020 – I had a few stipulations 1) Somewhat light weight 2) Would last the test of time 3) Good build quality. I was not exactly thinking of a design or shape and if given the chance to decide I would not have chosen this design. This perhaps was the best choice I could have made not deciding. I wasn’t exactly sold on its design from the beginning. In fact it took me a while to adapt to it – I really didn’t know how to get in and out of it.. or what to do with the space as my previous tent had two doors, side on. now 1100 days in.. and 38 camping sessions with it, its safe to say I know this tent . I know its good points and its bad points. #onenightsurvival #ons #butdididie #survivethenight The good, this list is extensive. I don't do reviews, as i think reviews should be done after extensive testing Its probably the lightest tent for its size that there is. I’ve looked up single man tents that come in at 2 kilos and this hoolie 2 is 2.3kilos with all the pegs and no modifications. (If I had to, say share it with someone, there is enough room for two people inside) which means the tent weight can be split between two people. Roomy is a word you could use, I make my sleep system in the middle of the tent, and place all my fun items on either side of me, and my essential cooking items in the porch. It takes about 15 minutes to put up and down and it has two height settings. 02:08 For the setup of the tent . The door has multiple zips, this means I can open the front door like a hatch and get in an out without opening the entire door. This means I don’t have to zip it to the ground more than once., no leaning out full stretch to close it. And being able to open the hatch like configuration 17:50 means the air in the tent is ventilating. I have learned to leave this hatch open all night. A room with a view.. 12:15 - I love the view this tent gives.. it is full on frontal . I can put my back pack behind me and sit there watching the world go by. IF its on a beach I can dig a hole right outside the front of the tent and drop my feet into it. Never having to leave the tent. This is perhaps the part of the tent that the tent taught me. Why even bother getting out of it.? It is an excellent shelter for photography. I have purchased a 3 x 3 cammo net for this tent and it just fades into the background leaving me able to photograph animals and listen to birds. It has never leaked, I have never treated it. It is warm and easy to dry out when I get home. The ability to adjust ventilation to a huge degree has left me with zeron condensation in the tent when I wake up. But I think most people like to completely close themselves off and suffer condensation. This is perhaps the tents finest point. The ability to adjust it slightly, to put a windward side down and a opposite side high. With its pinning points. In terms of strength and wind resistance, it is just bullet proof. It does not rattle , shake or flap.. Relatively noiseless even in the worst. The worst for me is a windy beach... not some sort of madness on top of a hill. The naughty list. This is difficult to write, I don’t have much of a naughty list. I was at first a bit upset by the available head room. But I was setting up the inner wrong and pinning the tent to the ground too much. So some playing around with the outer points and the inner clips allows for a few inches of head room adjustment. Its colour… well they will find you if you get lost or die in this tent. I am not exactly a fan of the colour. But adding some cammo to the exterior has helped me enjoy beaches and wild places without standing out. I pushed one of the poles through the fabric once, when rushing, and had to patch this little hole with a bit of tent tape. Putting the tent together by myself I do find I am tracking around the tent once or twice to adjust the grounding of the tent. It wants to be tight, it looks better tight as hell to the peg out points. So perhaps having to fit it to uneven ground is just part of this tent. It doesn't really care if the ground is undulating , it is quite forgiving. Is that a bad thing? On a very windy day, the tent must be pitched rear into the wind, Anyway. I thought being 1000 days in that is test enough so far. highly recommend this tunnel tent.
