Warning: this video contains descriptions of force feeding which some viewers may find upsetting. On 6th February 1914 Mary Richardson gave this testimony as part of a statement against force feeding delivered to the government by the Bishop of London, Arthur Winnington-Ingram. Mary’s closest imprisonment to this date was for damaging windows of the Colonial Office in Whitehall, for which she was sentenced to 4 months. This testimony and the Bishop’s statement are held at The National Archives in Kew. Suitable for GCSE and A Level History.
