Presented by OnX: Continuing our series of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever Habitat & Access Highlights, we are pleased to announce the purchase of a new land acquisition in Ohio via our organization’s Build a Wildlife Area® program in partnership with the Mallett family, the Ohio Public Works Commission’s Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program, and the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Located on the banks of the Scioto River, the Mallett Family Tract at Big Island Wildlife Area is comprised of 415 acres of previously restored grasslands, seasonal wetlands, and riparian forest in Marion County that will expand the existing Big Island Wildlife Area to more than 6,000 acres. This strategic acquisition will provide enduring benefits for public access and enhanced wildlife habitat for upland birds, pollinators, waterfowl, big game, and other wildlife. This project could not have been done without the instrumental work and support of the Mallet Family, Ohio Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever chapters, the Ohio Division of Wildlife, the Ohio Public Works Commission's Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program, Black Swamp Bucks Conservation Club, and Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s Build a Wildlife Area Program.
