With the Vivint Sky App and your Doorbell Camera you can take your front porch with you anywhere. Viewing your porch from the Sky App is easy. From the home-screen of the app tap the camera icon in the bottom navigation bar. Tap on your Doorbell Camera. The live feed will play and you will have the option to take a snap shot of the porch with the camera icon. Use the 2-way talk feature by holding down the mic icon or unlock your door if you have an automatic door lock connected to your system. If you would like to view the clips from your Doorbell Camera tap the clips button on the bottom of your live-feed screen. You can use the filter options in the top right corner to find specific clips by date. You can also customize the clips that are recorded and notifications you receive by following these steps: From the view of your Doorbell Camera live-feed tap the settings icon in the top right corner. You can toggle on and off recordings for visitor detection and doorbell press. To access notifications, press the menu icon in the top left corner and then tap custom actions. Toggle over to notifications. You can toggle on or off the notifications or create a new notification by tapping the plus icon in the top right corner. Your Doorbell Camera enables you to stay connected to your home even when you are away. Follow the steps in this video to learn how to use the 2-Way Talk feature on your Doorbell Camera. When someone comes to visit and presses the doorbell you will receive a push notification from the Vivint Smart Home App as long as you have it downloaded and are logged into your system. You will have the option to open the camera view straight from the notification to start a 2-way conversation. Make sure that your phone volume is turned up so you can hear the audio from the Doorbell Camera and speak through it. If you would like to talk through your doorbell camera without receiving a notification you can do so anytime through your app. From the home-screen of the Vivint Smart Home App tap the camera icon on the bottom navigation bar. If you have multiple cameras, scroll up or down to find the thumbnail of your doorbell camera and select it. The live feed will begin to play and the microphone icon will turn black when it is ready to use. Press and hold the microphone icon to speak through your doorbell. Release the icon when you are done speaking. You can also use your SkyControl Panel to talk to people at your front door. From the home-screen of your Vivint SkyControl Panel tap the camera in the bottom navigation bar. Tap the thumbnail of your Doorbell Camera. Press and hold the microphone icon to talk through your doorbell camera. Release the icon when you are done speaking. Visitor Detection Technology allows your Vivint Doorbell Camera to detect when a person is at your door and therefore record a clip and send you a notification. With the latest technology Vivint SkyControl now supports Visitor Detection that not only looks for motion, but for people specifically. The Doorbell Camera will constantly look for motion in your motion window and once motion is detected the Visitor Detection Technology will scan the full view of the camera to search for the outline of a person. Because every door is different, there are some settings you can adjust to optimize your Doorbell Camera for your specific front porch. To access your camera settings first go to the home screen of your SkyControl panel. Tap the camera icon in the navigation bar. Tap your Doorbell Camera. Tap the gear icon in the top right to open the camera settings. Enter your 4-digit admin pin. Tap visitor detection settings. Tap detection settings. From here you will see you motion detection box plus you motion and person sensitivity bars. For your motion detection box, it is best to have a smaller box in the area that you would expect a visitor to walk through. Having a motion detection box that is too large can lead to false readings. It is also best to avoid placing the box over plants that can move in the wind, or over a road that cars pass by on. The motion and person sensitivities are usually best left at their default medium settings. However, if your Doorbell Camera does not seem to be catching enough motion you can turn the sensitivity up until you are comfortable it is detection the right amount. A higher sensitivity will lead to more motion detection notifications. In contrast, if your doorbell is giving you too many notifications, even when there isn’t a person there, you would adjust the person detection sensitivity down.
