Doom 2: Good Morning Phobos - Map 9: Ancient Evil (UV Max)

This is an updated 2021 version of sincity2100’s original 2017 release of GMP. It upgrades the soundtrack of multiple maps, makes several map replacements, and makes smaller improvements to other maps. Good Morning Phobos is a 33 map WAD. It takes heavy influence from the likes of TNT: Evilution, Perdition’s Gate, and some newer WADs. It also heavily utilizes the Community Chest 4 texture pack. Some might see it as a drawback, due to how much it’s used, but the gameplay makes up for whatever visual/aesthetic flaws the WAD has. This is an underrated pick, in my opinion, for the top WADs of the 2010s. DSDA-doom: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic... ==================== This was another fun one. First off, I actually like the aesthetics here more than most of the maps so far. The multitude of brown textures all work together to create a singular vision that agrees with me quite well. I also believe the new MIDI fits better, as the old was another MIDI taken from Perdition's Gate (MAP08/14/29). This new one from Metroid has a much more fitting underlying theme of whimsy and mystery, things that fit with the vibe of the map. The combat is also more of the usual sincity action. Meaning it's fun, incorporates some nasty traps, and utilizes great monster placement to create constant tension and movement in the rooms you visit. One thing I'll mention is to maybe try and conserve some ammo for the end, as you not only have to deal with the Cacodemon and Pain Elemental trap, but also that Arch Vile guarding the exit.
