"Blue and White Devils" - The U.S. 3rd Infantry Division in Sicily Jeff Danby Part of Operation Husky (80th Anniversary) on WW2TV    • Operation Husky - 80th Anniversary   The 3rd Infantry Division was one of the few Divisions to fight in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. On 10 July 1943, the division made it's second amphibious assault landing of the war, coming ashore in Sicily at Licata. Specifically beaches called Torre di Gaffi and Mollarella to the west and Falconara to the East. By this time they had already earned a reputation for toughness and reliability. They went on to fight through Palermo to capture Messina. Jeff Danby was born in Pontiac, Michigan. As the son of a high school history teacher, Jeff grew up in a house full of books--which he read voraciously. He went on to get a B.A. Degree in History (with Honors) from DePaul University with a concentration in 20th Century America. He is an active member of the 756th Tank Battalion Association and maintains the organization's website.
