The Essential Guide to Any Motorcycle Traveler - Online Course: https://rtw-adventures.com/online-cou... The very first advice I will give you is to avoid it if you have this chance of course. Riding in the rain is not that dangerous as most of you believe but you always need to keep in mind that risk is double if we compare it with the dry days. Pavlin, what you are talking about! Your advice on how to ride in the rain is don't ride in the rain? Did you lost your mind? No no no, calm down, I will give you the tips that I have promised! With this, I am not saying that you shouldn't ride in the rain, the point is to avoid it if you have the chance. A few hours or even a day are not going to change anything but definitely might save you a lot of problems and even your life. Tip N: 1 - Prepare yourself and the bikeThe rain never comes just like that. You will see it from a long distance and thanks to the modern telephones you will know about it for at least a couple of hours. This will give you the chance to be prepared. Put on your raingear. Even if you have a waterproof gear keep in mind is that nothing lasts forever. Soon or later it will start leaking and then you will have a problem. Of course, I am talking about serious rain, not for drop or two. Tip N: 2 - Ride gently in the rain is like riding on the dirt roads. Do it with the speed that you can control. If this is 50, keep it, don't let anyone press you or telling you what to do. Safety is the most important, do not forget that! Keep in mind that the first 15 to 20 min the surface will be very slippery until the rain washes the dust, after that will be fine. Tip N: 3 - Keep distance this will give you more time to react if someone stops unexpectedly. If so try to stop and if you see that it is not going to be possible try to avoid the collision by going left or right. I will play it again and will tell you what is going on. I have heard many people telling that in a situation like this you have to put the bike down, but I think this will be the worst thing that you can make. Keep the bike straight, try to stop or at least slowdown and avoid the obstacle. Tip: 4 - Be careful with the lines on the road especially with tram rails or any metal covers. This is more important in the cities but the same rules apply everywhere. For example, I have seen in a few places exactly on the bends a thick white line to inform the drivers and slowdown but these are terrible for motorcycle riders in the rain. When you see it always try to keep the bike as straight as possible and don't press the brakes or twist the throttle on it. Wait until you go over it and then you can do it. Avoid potholes especially when they are full of water because you have no idea how deep they might be. Tip N: 5 - Overtake very gently. Do it very slowly and make sure that the driver knows that you are there, especially with trucks. They have many big wheels and the water will make big water fountains behind the truck. When you combine this with the foggy mirrors and maybe distracting from the radio or the telephone you will be absolutely invisible to the driver. I don't need even to remind you that the light needs to be always on. Luckily on the new bikes, the lights are on all the time as a standard. If you already have some additional lights now is the moment to use it, if not switch to high beam. This will help to be more visible. Don't worry you are not going to blind anyone, except you are not riding in the night but the combination of rain and night riding is not something that I will never recommend doing. Bonus TipThe best way to prevent any accident and it doesn't matter if it rain or not is to ride on your own limits. Never put yourself in a situation that you cannot control and always keep in mind that mistakes happen very fast no one is prepared for it!
