Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks RV Rider. This is going to be a bike rack designed for use on your motor homes and campers and we're gonna be checking it out and seeing how it fits on our 2023 Jayco Alante motor home. So this bike rack's gonna be pretty unique. It's going to be motor home approved which is going to be a big thing for it. You do have to get a bike rack that's motor home approved because it's tested to different standards and just a typical passenger car and this one is very sturdy. Then along with that, it's going to have an 80 pound capacity per bike so it's gonna be able to carry some really heavy e-bikes on the back of your motor home, which isn't super common. So if you're looking for a way to do that, it's gonna be one of those few options that you have available to you. You have the other one you might consider checking out is the Swagman E-Spec, but personally I prefer this one because it's got a few more features that you might be more familiar with on a typical bike rack. Now with that being said though, there are gonna be some limitations just because it is on the back of a motor home. Some of the touchpoints aren't gonna be as nice and we'll see that later in the video. But then also you gotta think about clearance issues. More often than not with these motor home bike racks, the hitches sit pretty far recessed underneath the motor home and this one is no different. This results in a kind of close fit with the bike rack. You can see our bike is loaded up on the outside cradle. Ideally, if you've just got one loaded up you want on that inner cradle that weight being closest to the vehicle. We can't do that though because our handlebars would make contact with the side of the motor home here. So right off the bat, I want to give you a measurement so you can figure out if that's gonna be an issue for you. That measurement would be from the back of your motor home to the center of the cradle which for us is going to be 14 1/2" So what you can do is put your bike 14 1/2" with the tire right here away from the back of your motor home. And if your handlebars are hitting, excuse me, then you know that you're gonna have a clearance issue and you can know that before you get the bike rack. But aside from all that, it is going to make frame contact with the bike. So if you've got a carbon frame bike this isn't going to be ideal. The clamp does slide up and down, pivot and rotate. So it is going to be a good fit for alternative frame because it can adapt to those frames pretty well. That's also going to be great for bikes that have fenders. If your e-bike has fenders, you're not relying on any sort of wheel contact to hold it and that clamp is lockable up top. So you've got that security aspect. The wheel hoops down below and the long straps can support a wide fat tire up to 5" in width and that's where the wheel's gonna set down in place. Moving underneath the bike rack, we do have a tilting feature here, which can be really helpful if you've got any compartments in the back, but for our case today, it gives us more room to access the ladder if we did have two bikes loaded up. So back here on my hand is I've got a hand knob plus a flat and a split washer that you want to remove. And I'm trying to be careful with this because my visibility is limited and I don't want it to fall underneath the motor home and just give a little bit of lift on the bike rack to remove the carriage bolt. Then underneath that there's going to be a pin and retaining clip. Once you release this, the bike rack isn't going to support itself anymore so just be careful, be ready to support that weight especially if you have it fully loaded with two e-bikes. And like I mentioned before this gives us more room to just get up the ladder if we need to without having to worry about unloading the bike rack completely. Then you can push it back into place, re-secure it with that pin and clip underneath and then the carriage bolt as well. If you've got a second person with you I'd definitely suggest using a second set of hands because again, if you've got this fully loaded that's 160 pounds of bike plus the weight of the rack itself. So it's not gonna be an easy
