Konrad Auwärter, the second son of the founder, created a double-deck service bus design for his dissertation in 1964. The "Do-Bus" design was incredibly lightweight and could accommodate more than 100 people. Additionally, it had a low-frame front axle and steering gear located up front, which allowed for a low, flat floor. The double-deck design philosophy was used to create a novel, roomy, comfortable touring vehicle. The Neoplan brand stood out from its rivals because to this car, known as the Skyliner, which also generated interest in the company's goods across Europe.
