Electronic view finders are a great way to monitor. They provide a much more immersive experience that helps you compose shots. They never get washed out by the sun and are always bright enough. Even your talent will respond differently when using an EVF. I personally own the PortKeys OEYE 3G and I use it almost every time I film. The Zacuto Kameleon Pro is a feature-rich and compact EVF, but is also quite expensive.
