Deur sy bydrae tot Suid-Afrika se kulturele en taallandskap het dr Frits Kok talle waardevolle bydraes gelewer as dinamiese leier wat horisonne verbreed en mense byeenbring. Sy leierskap het daartoe bygedra dat die lidmaatskap van die Afrikaanse Taal- en Kultuurvereniging (ATKV) feitlik verdubbel het en dat dit uitgebrei het tot ’n organisasie met baie takke regoor Suid-Afrika. Hy het die organisasie omvorm om sy impak op plaaslike gemeenskappe regoor taal-en kultuurskeidings te vergroot. Hy het talle brugbou- en bemagtigingsprojekte, soos Projek Handevat en ATKV Ubuntu-gesprekke, geïmplementeer en gefinansier, en was ’n stigterslid van die jaarlikse Pendoring-reklametoekennings. Frits het op ministeriële vlak met regeringsdepartemente, hoofde van groot maatskappye en akademiese, godsdienstige, gemeenskaps- en kultuurleiers op die hoogste vlakke, nasionaal en internasionaal, geskakel. Hy was ook vir twee termyne lid van die SAUK-raad. Hy het in 1972 ’n BA-graad van die voormalige Potchefstroomse Universiteit vir Christelike Hoër Onderwys (PU vir CHO) ontvang, gevolg deur ’n honneurs- en meestersgraad van dieselfde universiteit in onderskeidelik 1974 en 1975. Sy passie vir en persoonlike betrokkenheid by plaaslike gemeenskappe is die bewys van sy uitsonderlike invloed op die kultuursfeer van ons land. ___________________________________________________________________ Dr Frits Kok has made many valuable contributions as a dynamic leader who has broadened horizons and brought people together through his contribution to South Africa’s cultural and language landscape. His leadership has helped to nearly double the membership of the Afrikaans Language and Culture Organisation (ATKV) and expand it into an entity with many branches across South Africa. He shaped the organisation to increase its impact on local communities across language and cultural divides. He implemented and financed many bridge-building and empowerment projects such as Projek Handevat and ATKV Ubuntu Conversations, and was a founding member of the annual Pendoring Advertising Awards. Frits liaised on ministerial level with government departments, heads of major companies and academic, religious, community and cultural leaders on the highest levels, nationally and internationally. He was also a member of the SABC board for two terms. He obtained a BA degree from the former Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (PU for CHE) in 1972, followed by honours and master’s degrees from the university in 1974 and 1975 respectively.
