Today we have an artist who seems very much a showman and less of a recording sensation. Bruce Patterson, aka Patti, aka "The Banjo Wizard", seemed to be actively touring the west coast of the United States between 1930 and the late 1940s. From everything I've been able to piece together, he played many venues of varying size and reputation, he appeared on both Duke Ellington's and Bing Crosby's radio programs, and was a regular at WCCO out of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota for a time. He only ever produced one commercial record, and this is it (albeit the British release of it). Apparently he made some private recordings at a Minneapolis music store in the mid 1930's as well, but not in any significant number. This is Patterson's take on the classic "Tiger Rag", recorded on June 22, 1932.
