Blind customer using Sielaf reverse vending machine at Rewe, Berlin, Germany (05.06.2024).

Germany introduced it's deposit refund scheme for glass bottles, aluminium cans and plastic bottles in 2003. The scheme is ran by DPG Deutsche Pfandsystem GmbH and it covers Einweg (single use) plastic bottle and mehrweg (multiple use) e.g. glass beer bottle. The Pfand deposit return system charges an 8 cent deposit for a glass beer bottle, 15 cent for a glass bottle with reusable cap and finally 25 cents for plastic bottles and aluminium cans. We are happy to confirm that Sielaf reverse vending machines at Rewe work without touch screen interaction. Adding a bottle starts the process and when you are finished adding empty bottles or cans, waiting approx 30 seconds prints the receipt automatically. The reverse vending machine in this bodycam video is located to the right of the entrance at Rewe.
