Following more than 70 years on the throne, not literally, Queen Elizabeth II died last week, at Balmoral Castle, at the age of 96. English football, and indeed U.K. football, responded by either cancelling or postponing an entire weekend of fixtures, including amateur and children's matches, in what the Premier League, the EFL, and the Football Association described as being a mark of respect. But is that actually why they did it?
