Bharadwaj accused the BJP of spreading rumours about the medicines being "fake and spurious," asserting that they were "neither spurious nor fake" but did not meet certain testing standards. The health minister's office issued a statement alleging that the BJP was spreading lies about fake medicines in Delhi to influence upcoming elections.
