Sharon has a long history of playing traditional music on her boehm flute. She has carried out extensive research on flute playing in Fermanagh which led to the book and cds Hidden Fermanagh. Sharon was part of the team that set up and ran Flutefling along with Gordon Turnbull and Kanny Hadden This tune is from the playing of Jean Carignan and appears in The Flutefling Collection. FluteFling~ traditional flutes and whistles in Scotland FluteFling classes, workshops and weekends provide opportunities for people to learn and develop traditional skills on the whistle and flute in a Scottish setting. These videos were made for the European Folk Day 2024 by contributors to The Flutefling Collection. The Flutefling organisation commissioned and printed the collection during covid lockdown to provide some support to traditional musicians (particularly flute players) during that difficult time. The collection provides a lasting resource for traditional musicians, with contributors providing their favourite flute based tunes, both modern and old in the traditional style.
