I had a Novation Launchkey MIDI keyboard controller with keys that became yellow, as a result of having it placed next to a window. Initially, I tried cleaning it with baking soda, isopropyl alcohol, and all sort of home cleaning agents – with no luck. Eventually, I learned that it was bromine, a chemical substance in plastic keys that had destabilized because of prolonged exposure to UV light. The only way to turn it white again is to use hydrogen peroxide and UV light again. I documented the process of whitening the yellowed plastic keyboard using hydrogen peroxide cream and UV light.
