In August 2013, Toronto police laid a criminal complaint against Francesco Carbone for allegedly plotting the death of Andrew Pajak with Sasha Visser. The charge was said to be based on a tape recording of Francesco Carbone. Carbone says he believes the recording was cut and spliced to incriminate him. Because Sasha Visser left Canada and the police had no other witnesses, the case against Francesco Carbone fell apart. The charges against him have been withdrawn, and he is suing the Toronto police for wrongful arrest. What really happened with the $112 million Canadian billionaire Michael DeGroote lent brothers Francesco and Antonio Carbone for a gambling casino venture is now the central question in a legal battle being fought out in the Ontario courts. DeGroote’s shining Caribbean dream would turn into a nightmare. There would be accusations of bad faith, fraud and even conspiracy to murder.
