Building an Experimental Airplane, The Vans RV-7A | EP2.15 Flaps

Flaps! From start to finish. The flaps are the "easiest" control surface in this airplane build to construct. Quotes because they're still a bit of work--as is everything when building an experimental airplane. Starting with the usual deburring and match drilling, I'll detail the steps of building the flaps for the RV 7 airplane in this week's video. I take some steps out of order to avoid riveting myself into a corner, and work through all aspects of construction to get them on the plane. Primer was sprayed in one large batch, which is easier than the ailerons, but the use of standard rivet bucking versus back riveting does add back in some time. The flaps can easily warp when building--something I found out. Carefully weight them and check for trueness throughout the build. I'm excited for y'all to see this one! ------------ I'm Ryan, an aviation enthusiast who has decided to build his own aircraft and publish the entire process online for others to watch along. The airplane is a two-person experimental kit built aluminum plane capable of over 200 miles per hour, and a range of over 700 miles. The kit is manufactured by Van's Aircraft, one of the most prolific kit providers on the planet. The airplane is aerobatic, functional, and fun. The build is challenging, time consuming, fun and rewarding. Check out my instagram @ryanflyspdx Also check out my new website, ryanflys.com.
