In this video I show you all the parts and video instructions you need to build a DIY PVC kayak rack. This kayak stand is light, portable and affordable. The best part is that anybody can build this kayak rack. It can be taken apart since there is no glue needed. I will say however that taking it apart requires a rubber mallet and a strong swing. Another great feature of this DIY kayak rack is that you can mount the kayaks right side up or upside down which keeps the rain out. Since this rack is made with PVC is will never rot so it is perfect for outdoor storage. One last thing of interest is that there are only two part numbers in the parts list. The only thing you have to do is cut some 10 foot PVC into smaller sections and attach them to PVC tees. You can use any PVC type but it is important that the conduit and tees are 1.5 inches and plastic not metal. Here is the cut list for what you need to make this DIY kayak stand: (6) 58 inch 1.5 inch pvc (14) 3 inch 1.5 inch pvc (8) 17 inch 1.5 inch pvc (6) 33 inch 1.5 inch pvc (24) PVC Tees Here are the specific items that were used in this kayak rack build: Model # A52BE12H Description - CANTEX Common: 1-1/2" Actual: 1.5" Non-Metal PVC 10 foot Conduit Model # 401015RMC Description: Lasco PVC Schedule 40 Tee Any type of 1 1/2" PVC would probably work - you can find it in the plumbing or electrical departments of your local home improvement store.
