Building Belonging, A Video from the Learning Sciences Exchange at New America

This Learning Sciences Exchange (LSX) video tells the story of how a group of 5 LSX fellows from different sectors and cultures collaborated to build something new for educators based on the science of learning: They created a suite of activities and short videos to help middle school teachers learn about the science of identity formation in their students and promote their students’ sense of belonging. The video shows how the group of LSX fellows used research on the importance of social relationships in adolescents’ learning and motivation to design their project. This project was showcased at the LSX event, Seeing and Solving Through Multiple Perspectives: New Ways to Transform Education at New America’s event space on September 18, 2024 in Washington, DC and online.
