Need More Power? Adding an Additional 15 Amp Outlet to a 30 Amp RV, Cheap RV Power Upgrade

This project is fun, easy, and I think a pretty good bang for your buck! We’ve all done the dance of turning one appliance off to turn another one on while we’re in our RV, so hopefully this will help those of you who, like me, are a little power hungry. Final project cost: $45.43 Intro 00:00 What's the project? 00:28 Drilling holes 07:03 Wiring the outdoor outlet 07:28 Adding the support board 10:18 Interior outlet wiring 11:50 Finishing touches 13:58 Watts to Amps: https://www.rapidtables.com/calc/elec... A few notes about the project: We decided to just install a standard 15 amp outlet & this is good enough for what we wanted. Included in the project cost are things that we specifically needed for this outlet install. I didn’t include things that we already had in our stash such as butyl tape, a multi tool, wire loom, drill, etc. but I did link what we used below for reference. You can find all these items either at your local Home Depot, if there is one along your route, or you can order from Amazon and save yourself the trip. The cost of the items may vary a bit depending on what’s available. Disclaimers: I’m just a goofball on the internet sharing my experiences and this video is not a replacement for a professional opinion (like say, an electrician). Just a heads up that as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This is at no cost to you. I may earn a few doubloons if you make a purchase through one of the links below. Thanks for the support! -15 Amp Flanged Male Receptacle Plug ($16.96) https://amzn.to/3RG1j8O -Stranded 14 Gauge Wire (Green, Black, White; $1.84 total) It’s easier to just get the solid 14 gauge wire, but the stores we went to were out of stock when we were shopping. You’ll save a little money if you purchase the wire by the foot since you’ll only need about 1 ½ ft of each color wire (depending on where you place the outlet and the layout of your RV, you may need more). I’ve posted a few options below, but the most cost effective is by the foot at Home Depot. Home Depot (sold by the foot in assorted colors, was about $0.41 per foot; we spent about $1.84 total): https://www.homedepot.com/p/100-ft-14... Solid Wire: https://www.homedepot.com/p/25-ft-14-...
