In this tutorial, we show you how to implement autocomplete functionality in QField using QGIS Attribute Form value relations. I'd add an "other" scientific and common name in the plant list table, then add another "species_other" field, an open text field that only shows up if "other" is selected (I'll cover this in a later video as time permits).
