Various Arafat and el- Baz at meeting 6. Wide shot meeting STORYLINE: Osama el-Baz, top aide to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, arrived to the West Bank on Thursday for talks with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. The meetings are part of Egyptian efforts to forge a cease-fire. El-Baz is expected to meet later on Thursday with several Palestinian officials Meanwhile, Israeli officials are working on a new map dividing the West Bank into a Palestinian area and an area that will continue, for now, to be controlled by Israel, officials said. Sharon said earlier this month that Israel would unilaterally define its separation line from the Palestinians if, within a few months, it concluded the Palestinians were not going to dismantle militant groups. He said some settlements in areas to be evacuated would be dismantled. The proposed map will be presented within several weeks and would be based on plans the military has already drawn up recommending which areas Israel should evacuate. Sharon has emphasized that under a negotiated settlement the Palestinians would receive more land. Officials have stated that the new line would not be a permanent border and would remain open to negotiations with a future Palestinian leadership prepared for peace with Israel.
