A very heartfelt and meaningful nostalgic trip among blissful memories and feelings towards our beloved ponies, this gem straight out of the latest Ponies at Dawn album is brimming with love and what makes our community stronger. Enjoy this journey of pony passion with a round of cider, on the house! We truly don't know what strong and passionate feelings people have for ponies and the show until they share them with us, and it is my upmost pleasure to share with you all this track that has quite the rich backstory and heartfelt meaning to it. Deep on so many levels, it all started as a musical pioneering from Phoxi who got inspired by an arp from Pandela "that he glitched the living horse out of", and who merged the "familiar-but-different" musical approach from his Twiggy alias with the crazy direction that his PVNK alias is know for, to come up with a new musical concept of "what if: Disco - but it's synthwave and kind of housey?". Experiencing serious health problems at the time, Phoxi felt a surge of nostalgy from all those years of watching the show and nurturing strong feelings toward the characters like many of us did, and imbued those feelings in the track, meant as a personal tribute to how emotionally impactful a show about pastel-colored horses can be. It certainly was life-changing for many of us, and has affected us in more ways than one, with powerful emotions of Passion, strong feelings toward characters, shared messages and values about love and Friendship, and many other "important things" we got from our experience of the series. As Phoxi said, "sometimes fiction is more real than reality because of the way it affects us", and I agree with that so very much from personal experience. Conveying all of those feelings and the nostalgia of watching new episodes every saturday, the song is also dedicated to Twilight "Twiggy" Sparkle and the feelings that Phoxi has for her since a long time ago. And I can once again relate to that! As for the Golden Oaks tree-library-house, it is a symbol of all those things for Phoxi, and a "safe haven". Quoting him some more, it is "a symbol of how the show has grown, and how long its lasted, and the impact its had that just a picture of a cartoon tree-library-house thing can actually evoke any emotion in anyone at all. Also its just damn cozy." All in all, "We've Been Here A Long Time, Haven't We" is meant to evoke the sentiment from all that time we've been here, marveling at happy ponies. And I have to say that it has got to be one of my favorite themes/meanings behind a pony song ever! All that depth is giving the song a lot of additional layers of appreciation and emotion, as we connect to the feelings and feel emotion from our own experiences. Now add to that a much refined and unique instrumental, and beautiful vocals that convey that many heartfelt things... and you've got a masterpiece of feelings converted to sound, to enjoy without moderation.
