In July 2018, A group of dreamers embarked on a journey to Adelaide to begin one of the most demanding Pilot Training Programmes at Flight Training Adelaide, one of the best flight schools in the world. They were filled with passion, enthusiasm, and a touch of nervousness. After settling in, we were held captive to complete ground school in one go and pass the Commercial Pilot Licencing exams given by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia over the first two months. This two-month period felt longer than the entire time we had to wait before beginning our training :D Finally, we started our flight training. Module 1 of 14 flights served as the foundation. The syllabus for every flight was unique, much like a fresh chapter in a novel. The solo check flight, which was the fourteenth flight of Module 1, required us to fly alone for the first time and perform a takeoff and landing. Then came Module 2, in which we learned more about landings and other emergencies. This module also featured a navigation flight during which we left our comfortable airport and flew to explore the big south land. Again, the 14th flight of Module 2 was a check. Then, we moved on to Module 3, which involved building up hours and visiting various airfields in South Australia and neighboring states to practice takeoffs and landings as well as some special maneuvers, such as stalls, steep turns, practice forced landings, precautions search, and landing, to name a few. Mod 3 check was equivalent to Private Pilot License Check. Module 4 was the enjoyable portion of the entire training when we finally mastered flying and were simply free to explore Australia from above all alone in our Diamond Star. The majority of South Australia's tourist attractions were accessible to us from above. The most rewarding module of them all, Module 5, is where one becomes a Commercial Pilot by passing it. The fifth module began with a review of the fundamentals, and by the time we reached the final exam, we had all earned our Australian Pilot license. Following receipt of the license, we accrued more hours and added other ratings, such as the Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating. We also flew the CAP10, an aerobatic aircraft where we performed 360-degree loops, barrel rolls, and wing drops while understanding a bit of flight like a fighter pilot. A unique UPRT training program in itself. Following completion of MECIR, we traveled to India to convert our licenses before returning back to Australia to do the Multi Crew Cooperation course and Type Rating at Ansett Aviation Training Melbourne. We were all eager to start flying the Airbus as the Type Rating was the last stage of our training, but then Covid happened. Even when we realized our dream, it felt unreal. We waited anxiously, with no end in sight. After two years of waiting and continuously checking the number of travelers departing each month, analyzing traveler trends, and worrying excessively about the future. Finally, our time came. We were called in. - Come in First Officer. Only those who received their training at FTA may comprehend the incredible experience we underwent. We could plainly see how flawlessly the Pre-Solo Radio Test, Ground Courses, Flight Training, UPRT, IREX, MECIR, and ultimately MCC and Type Rating all connected the dots. The friends we created and the challenges we experienced together have created an intangible bond among all of us for a lifetime. We have grown stronger, more intelligent, and most importantly, this adventure has helped us become the Professional Pilots we all yearned to be one day.
