Ato 1 O narrador conta sobre a duradoura luta entre os Capuletos e os Montecchios. A primeira cena retrata uma luta entre as famílias, porém não muito depois, Páris, o príncipe de Verona, aparece e interrompe a luta. Paris expulsa todos do local e deseja conversar apenas com o Senhor Capuleto, ameaçando exilar os Capuletos se Julieta se recusasse a se casar com ele. Act 1 The narrator tells the audience about the never-ending feud between the Capulets and Montagues. The first scene portrays a fight between both families, but not much later, Paris, the prince of Verona, appears and interrupts the fight. Paris expels everyone from the place and wishes to talk to Lord Capulet, threatening to exile the Capulets if Juliet refuses to marry him. Romeo and Benvolio find an invitation to the Capulet Masquerade ball. In the party, Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time, when they fall in love with each other. Ato 2 Romeo se aproxima da varanda da Julieta e confessa seu amor por ela. Eles planejam se casar na capela do Frei Lawrence, o padre de Verona. Act 3 Lord and Lady Capulet warn Juliet that her arranged wedding with Prince PAris would save them from being exiled. Afraid of what may happen, Juliet talks to Friar Lawrence. The friar suggests that she should drink a liquid that would make her look as if she were dead. This way, the family would think she’s dead and Romeo would come to save her. Juliet accepts the offer and drinks the liquid. Ato 4 Parecendo morta, a família da Julieta faz um funeral para velar seu corpo e sofre com o luto de sua morte. Depois do velório, Romeo acha o corpo de Julieta e se mata por desgosto, já que não consegue viver sem seu amor. Logo após a morte de Romeo, Julieta acorda e, como seu amante, se mata em desgosto. Vendo a situação que um amor proibido causou, as famílias decidem acabar com esse conflito. Act 4 For being seemingly dead, Juliet’s make-believe passing has her family suffer and grieve at her funeral. When the funeral is over, Romeo sees Juliet's body and kills himself out of sadness, given the fact that he can’t stand a life without her true love. Right after his suicide, Juliet awakes and, like his lover, kills herself. Seeing the situation that a forbidden love has caused, the families decide to end this never-ending vendetta.
