The need and urgency to shift to a healthier and more sustainable food system is widely acknowledged. However, vulnerable populations, particularly those with low socio-economic status (SES), face multiple challenges that make it harder to eat in a sustainable and healthy way. To support the transition towards healthier and more sustainable lifestyles, the European Food Information Council (EUFIC) hosted this webinar to showcase the results of their research, conducted together with Caritas Trieste in Italy, which focuses on understanding the challenges faced by social supermarket customers (native Italians and immigrants with low SES) to adopting healthy and sustainable diets and sharing evidence-based recommendations on how to tailor information to address their needs and concerns. The webinar is primarily tailored for policymakers, NGOs, researchers, health professionals, and science communicators. The research presented serves as a valuable blueprint for informing strategies to promote the transition to healthier and more sustainable diets among low-SES communities.
