潮剧"玉堂春" - 张怡凰, 林初发 (广东潮剧院一团) Chaozhou opera "Yu Tang Chun", performed by the First Company of the Guangdong Academy of Chaozhou Opera. This opera is based on the classic tale of the steadfast love between a scholar who has been disowned by his family and his faithful courtesan lover. Both have to undergo many trials and tribulations before eventually reunited in blissful marriage. In this scene, which takes in a secluded temple, Wang Jinlong (王金龙), the scholar, meets his beloved, the courtesan Su-san (苏三), who is overjoyed that he is still alive, despite having being severely beaten by his father for squandering all his money on her at the brothel. The duet is brought to vivid life by this pair of very talented performers.
