What an evening! A very strong snowstorm affected Longyearbyen (Svalbard) on the evening of March the 17th, 2022. I have never before experienced such an intense snowstorm. The Norwegian Meteorological Institute (YR.no) issued a code yellow warning for a polar low approaching the area. The wind gusts however turned out more extreme than forecast. This, in combination with snowfall, caused a complete white-out - a very dangerous weather situation, but impressive to experience!
