Hiking Japan’s Largest Active Volcano - Mount Aso

Mount Aso is Japan’s largest active volcano and one of the largest in the world. Mount Aso consists of 5 peaks. I climbed up to the highest peak, Mt. Taka, then traversed over to the active Mt. Naka. 🌋 Mt. Aso has one of the largest calderas in the world. 17km east to west and 25km north to south. Mt. Aso’s last eruption was in July 2019. ⚠️ Due to the toxic volcanic gases around the crater people with asthma, bronchitis or heart problems are forbidden from climbing.
