Under the leadership of Sergei Diaghilev, the Ballets Russes drew upon the genius of leading artists to create innovative collaborations that brought together dancers, choreographers, composers, and painters. Premiered in 1912 by the Ballets Russes, The Afternoon of a Faun was the first piece of choreography by the great dancer Vaslav Nijinsky. "A great artist who has influenced me and the imagery in my work is Auguste Rodin.
