Homemade Sloppy Joes 1 tablespoon oil 1 - 1 ½ pound ground beef 1 small sweet onion (diced) ½ green pepper (diced) 2 tablespoons minced garlic 1 tablespoon tomato paste ½ cup ketchup ⅓ cup water 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce 2 teaspoons yellow mustard ½ teaspoon kosher salt ¼ teaspoon black pepper ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes In a medium pot heat oil over medium heat, add hamburger meat, onion, and green pepper. Cook until the meat is no longer pink. Drain the grease and add garlic. Continue cooking the meat until garlic is fragrant - this will be about 1 more minute. Add tomato paste and cook together until the tomato paste has incorporated into the meat. Once the tomato paste has incorporated, add ketchup, mustard, and water. Mix together until well combined. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for about 10 minutes on low heat until mixture reduces. Serve on buns. Enjoy!
