Jim Ryun - Lessons From The 1972 Olympic Games (Munich, Germany)

In 2014 I attended a Track & Field Coaching Clinic conducted by the LA84 Foundation. Jim Ryun was one of the guest speakers & talked about his disappointing fall in the 1500 meters in a qualifying heat at the 1972 Olympic games in Munich Germany. In 1972 Ryun still held the World Record in the 1500 meters at 3:33.1 (set in 1967) and won the silver medal in the 1500 meters at the Mexico City Olympics in 1968. He focused on three lessons to be learned from his track & field career and his Munich experience - (1) Never Stop Dreaming - Dream Big (2) Be Quick To Forgive (3) Keep The Right Perspective.
