If you are concerned, don’t ignore the alarms.Take the child to a specialist, which will be a developmental psychologist or a child psychologist for a milestone assessment. The American Association of Pediatricians it is important to assess the child atleast once before 36 months and as a protocol before 9 months, 18 months 24 months, 36 months. I recommend all the pediatricians to develop a standard protocol in their hospitals to screen the children atleast once before 36 months to assess for any developmental delays. A parent should not ignore if a child does not stand even if support is offered, doesn’t try to walk or doesn’t search for things that are in front of their eyes. Doesn’t seem to know his or her name, doesn’t say single words like Mamma , Dadda or address anybody by any sounds, loses skills that once he has. Doesn’t learn gestures like waving, nodding the head, showing little or no interest in toys, doesn’t point to things. These are all the alarms to take your child to a specialist.
