My favourite 5 best ice climbing gear!

Are you looking for new ice climbing gear or are you new to ice climbing or a beginner ice climber? Well, in this video I will share my top 5 favourite best ice climbing gear that might serve you as inspiration for your own best ice climbing gear and equipment! And if you are new to this channel, then you have come to the right place if you are looking for tips on ice climbing gear and equipment and to get inspiration about ice climbing areas and specific ice climbing routes. Firstly, my favourite best ice climbing tool is the Grivel Tech Machine! It has served me quite well for five seasons and countless adventures now! I think it strikes a really fine balance between having a good solid swing and an ergonomically shaped handle that fits my hand just perfectly. I have rather large hands and since you cannot adjust the handle this is a piece of gear you would probably like to try out first. And what I particularly like about the Grivel Tech Machine is the large loop in at the head of the ice tool. This is particularly suitable when stashing the ice tool on your harness or clipping a carabiner when building a snow anchor. The version of the Grivel Tech Machine that I climb with has recently been replaced by a newer version and even comes in a carbon edition too! Secondly, my favourite best crampon has to be the Black Diamond Stinger! This is a quite aggressive mono-point, rather lightweight crampon for mixed and steep ice climbing. Climbing mono or dual point is a bit of a personal preference but climbing with one sharp mono point suits me fine – not just in mixed conditions, but also on steep ice. The main front-point of the Black Diamond Stinger is replaceable, so you can buy the front point as a spare part, whenever it wears out. What do you prefer? This is a tricky one, because having an embedded quickdraw definitely also introduces some limitations – but the sheer quickness and time you safe by having this setup is really great! I used to climb with traditional ice screws like the Black Diamond Express, which is definitely a great ice screw – actually, together with the Petzl Laser, I think it kinda makes the reference point for benchmark ice screws. But with the Salewa Ice screw I carry less gear, therefore climb more light weight, and it is easier browsing through my catalogue of different sizes. I made a separate video on the Salewa Quick Screw, so remember checking that one out after you’ve finished watching this video. My fourth favourite best ice climbing gear are these! Having clear visibility is crucial for ice climbing. For that reason, my favourite eye protection has to be The Julbo Dirt 2.0 Zebra yellow tinted sunglasses. They are actually mountain bike sunglasses…but who really cares! What you should care about though, is how well your sunglasses perform. Yellow tinted glasses enhance contrasts which is really great on cloudy days, where everything seems to look the same! Besides that, these particular sunglasses from Julbo are photochromic, which means that they will automatically adjusts the transmission of light coming through the glasses. So, on really cloudy days the sunglasses will let more light through, so you can easier see what’s going on! My final favourite piece of best ice climbing gear is the Black Diamond Punisher gloves. These are my go-to gloves and are really warm, durable and flexible at the same time. When ice climbing in the European Alps between -5 to - 10 degrees Celsius these gloves are absolutely bomber!
