Exploring The Abandoned Shipwreck Carmel, Why Has This Amazing Vessel Just Been Left? 

In this weeks video, I explore the abandoned shipwreck of Carmel in Portsmouth. The Carmel used to trade between Fareham and the Isle of Wight. The vessel was set adrift alongside the crane barge HLV Canute during storm Eunice. The large crane - HLV Canute was recovered, however the Carmel was not. The vessel lies on Ministry of Defence / Crown Estate land, the water is in the jurisdiction of the Kings Harbour Master. The KHM are in touch with the owner, who has apparently not yet abandoned the vessel. Facts - CARMEL is a General cargo vessel built in 1971 by HEPWORTH SHIPYARD - KINGSTON UPON HULL, U.K.. Currently sailing under the flag of United Kingdom (UK). Formerly also known as SUBRO VALOUR, FERRYHILL II, VALOUR. Its gross tonnage is 199 tons.
