Welcome to the Gascoyne Region! We are taking the road less travelled, to some epic spots in true Outback fashion. Our Gascoyne trip starts with a visit to the start of the Kennedy Range track, we wish we had the time to do it but we have a bit of a timeline to make it to Karratha, so we decided to skip it. From what we heard it is amazing and so worth the drive. Our next stop was Kennedy Ranges, a huge Plateau that drops off 80m to the surrounding red earth plain. The gorges carved out of sandstone are amazing and each one has its own unique features. The National Park has a campground at Temple Gorge and we would definitely recommend staying there at least one night. In the morning at sunrise the rocks all glow bright red, it is amazing. The accessible part of the National Park is pretty small so we kept going to our next stop, Mt. Augustus. This is apparently the biggest Inselberg in the world, at least there is a sign that says so. The roads to get here are all dirt, but the Gascoyne region maintain their roads very well and any vehicles could get there. Not to mention, not many vehicles use the roads at all. Any heavy vehicles over 5T GVM have a maximum speed limit of 70kmh, so perfect for Mogs. Join us next week as we explore this huge rock!
