Psycho Killer - with a Dulcimer

Talking Heads' classic "Psycho Killer" played on 3-string electric mountain dulcimer by Sam Edelston. I really like this song on 3 strings, because of the sparseness of the chords. Mountain dulcimers are fairly uncommon instruments that most people still associate with rural people playing folk songs, but dulcimers are capable of much more. (They're also much simpler to learn than the guitar or ukulele.) My goal here is to open people's eyes to this wonderful instrument and some of the many kinds of music it does. Bridge begins at 2:03. Chase and climactic battle begin at 3:09. For more electric rock dulcimer, check out my rendition of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" at    • Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love - on ...   Or for more variety, check out some of my other videos. And come to my music page:   / sam.edelstons.music.page   ---------------- Technical details: Robert Force model "Black Wolf" hollow-body electric dulcimer built by Rod Matheson, tuned DAd. (Yes, all that sound is coming from just 3 strings.) Dulcimer players: This arrangement uses a 1+ fret. (Non-players: Dulcimers traditionally only have frets for a diatonic scale -- which actually is advantageous for simple, well-behaved songs. Some dulcimers, though, have extra frets, or may even be fully chromatic.) One pickup is running through an octave pedal, overdrive, chorus, and delay. The second pickup (used for the bridge and afterward) is running through a Roland Cube that's emulating a Mesa Boogie Rectifier Amp. No people or relationships were harmed in the making of this video.
