God saves the Israelites from the Egyptians

God confronts Pharaoh, through the person of Moses whom he chooses, trains and commissions as his own agent. Through the different plagues, which were signs of God’s power, God was intervening on behalf of a ragged, weak band of slaves, against the crippling control of a powerful nation. God prepares the Hebrew people for what is to come, and clearly admonishes them to remember this day by repeating these rituals every year (Ex 12:14). Only then he continues with the dastardly 10th plague, i.e; the death of the Egyptian 1st born, because of which the Hebrews are set free.
