Skutt 231 Kiln Teardown and Wiring

I tear down my used Skutt 231 kiln and I'm glad I did! While the body of the kiln looked like it was in good shape, I had my doubts about the electrical system. I was worried about the high voltage (240v) wiring. One of the connectors looked in bad shape in particular. It turns out I was right! After opening up the kiln, one of the power connectors was damaged and some of the wiring is in bad shape. Here you can see my process of breaking down the kiln's control boxes and the kiln sitter. The kiln sitter is also interesting and I show how this electromechanical component works. In the end I have a kiln with just the elements left. New electrical components will be coming! In the future I'll add a thermocouple, relays and digital controller which will make it act much more like a Scutt KM-1027.
