I’ve been vaping for a few years and have had a range of devices from cheap and cheerful to a bit more pricey. I’ve tended to find that there’s a sweet spot, price-wise, where the quality can be good, but the price is not so high as to be prohibitive. After all, this is meant to be a cheaper alternative to smoking, isn’t it! This kit contains a 2200mAh box, with a top-fill tank, instructions, and charging cable. Starting with the box. For the price, this has some great features. The variable temperature/wattage, for example, are usually found on boxes which cost a lot more. Three clicks of the power button alternates between wattage and TV setting. The battery is powerful enough to deal with sub-ohm coils (it comes with a 0.3 ohm coil included). The 2200mAh battery should be enough to keep most users going for a day of use, but because it’s a built in cell, it’s rechargeable on-the-go, so you can plug it in and keep using it, with the micro-USB port on the bottom. The battery pack is matte black with chromed buttons, top and end caps. On the button side, there is a line of brushed metal, with a reflective gloss plastic screen, through which you can see the OLED display screen. This shows the charge remaining, current voltage, temperature and wattage settings, and the resistance of the coil fitted. The buttons are nicely made, and have a reassuring click when used. The buttons, though, are often the weak spot of cheaper boxes, being the first thing to go. I’ll keep an eye on this and update this if they fail. The tank is small, but well put together. The recommended replacement coils are just under a tenner for five, which is at the pricier end of the market. I’ll have to explore whether alternatives are available/compatible, otherwise this tank might get relegated to ‘spare’! The tank is well designed, though, and well put together. It’s easy enough to take apart for cleaning purposes, and all the rubber seals and metal threads are well fitted, so you shouldn’t have any issues with leaks. In Use: The battery arrived with almost a full charge in it, but doesn’t take long to bring up to full charge from empty. When you’re filling your tank for the first time it’s a good idea to pre-soak the atomiser coil. Just drop a few drips of liquid into the coil to moisten the cotton, then a drop or two in each of the side holes. Once you’ve filled the tank, leave it to soak in for a good five minutes or so before you use it, and this will help to avoid dry burns. 5 clicks of the power button turns it off and on. When first activated, it is on wattage mode. Pressing the up and down arrows adjusts the wattage in 0.1W increments. Press and hold for a second and it will continue to scroll up or down. 3 clicks of the power button moves it into TC mode. Again, use the arrows to adjust as above from 100 to 315 degrees. 5 clicks of the power button turns the device off. Filling the tank is simple – you unscrew the top part of the tank and fill from above. This is far preferable to bottom-filled tanks which can be messy in use. The burn is strong and clear, giving decent clouds of vapour. I’ve been using a 50/50 PG/VG liquid, which I find gives a good combination of big clouds, clear taste, and throat hit. Pros: Small form factor, so easy on the pocket. Small price, so easy on the wallet. Variable wattage and temp control, to get just the right vape for you. Easily refillable top-fill tank. On-the-go charging Cons: The tank could be a little bigger. The coils appear to be a little more expensive than others to replace. All in all, a great little device, which cost a lot less for a full kit than I paid for my last box mod alone!
