We've been enjoying our Stark Future Varg electric motocross bike, and have learned a lot about how it works, performs, and more. Earlier this month, we were invited by the Dunlop Tire guys to test out the all-new AT82 off-road tires by being their guest at the second SRA Grand Prix of the year. Held at Glen Helen Raceway, the course encompassed the entire National MX track and REM Vet track, connecting them with the off-road ridges that meander up and down the mountains that surround the facility. The course also incorporated a couple of high-speed pavement sections as well as a wet creek bed that proved tricky to negotiate at speed. All told, it was a great layout to put the AT82 tires to the test, and we emerged completely impressed with the set. The front tire offers exceptional grip and comfort, while the bi-directional design of the rear offers great. mid- to soft-terrain traction in the direction we mounted it, and can be flipped reverse for superb hard-terrain traction. When it came time to choose a steed for the race we were torn while making a decision. The KTM 300 SX worked amazingly well at the January SRA GP at Glen Helen so that was an option, but we've been enjoying the Stark Varg so much that it won out in the end. But would it last the entire race? We were concerned. With 80 horsepower at our fingertips, we've quickly realized that it's best to put ego aside and ride with a much lower power setting, as it is easier and safer to manage. In preparation for the race, we set all five maps to 100% regenerative engine braking to maximize battery charge during the race and set map 1 at 48 horsepower. After that, the maps went down proportionately, with maximum range in mind. So, did the Stark Varg last the entire race? Press play to find out!
