Presenter and journalist Philip Boucher-Hayes walks two loops in the Glengarriff Woods Nature Reserve and on Garnish Island in Cork. The second walk is a loop on nearby Garnish Island. Philip gets there by a short ferry ride from Glengarriff and is lucky enough to observe seals basking and the White Tail Eagle in its natural habitat. On Garnish Philip meets Finbar O’Sullivan of the Office of Public Works and then hears from Margaret O’Sullivan who tells him about the history of Bryce House and its environs. The Garnish Island loop is short, but is full of history and home to unique exotic plants in the impressive Italianate gardens. Philip’s walk around Garnish Island takes about one hour.
