ATVs suffer from overheating problems all the time, especially if you enjoy mud plugging as much as I do. There are many reasons the system fails to keep the engine within the desired temperature range but if allowed to overheat some serious engine damage can result - just see my video on the Yamaha Viking engine rebuild! So, this ATV came in to the workshop the other day, coolant system had overheated and customer advised that the cooling fan hadn't come on. After beginning the diagnostic process I decided to grab the camera and make a video. Given it's such a common problem, showing how to diagnose the electrical cooling system circuit and its components, I'm sure it will be of help to many ATV owners - the process will be similar to most Quads & side-by-side vehicles irrespective of manufacturer, though if in doubt, it's always best to get hold of a model specific workshop manual for the specs & official test procedures for your vehicle.
