The last Pullman heavy weight private business car of its kind, built in about 1921, Western Maryland Railway Business Car 204 car sits under plastic wrap on the Western Maryland Scenic Railway (WMSR) in Ridgely, WV, next to Cumberland, MD. This video gives a bit of its history, its deterioration, and hopes for its restoration. It is estimated to cost about $700,000 to $800,000 to restore it to static display, perhaps another $100,000 to restore it to operation on the WMSR, and roughly $1.2 million to upgrade it to Amtrak standards. The author of this video is willing to make a significant six-figure donation to restore this car to one of the three alternatives if an additional sponsor(s) can be found to cover the remaining costs.
