YouTube Camera Gear | MUCH Cheaper Than You Think!!

This video idea came from one of our viewers who is thinking of starting their own YouTube channel. In the beginning of the YouTube journey, everyone gets stuck on looking for the best camera for YouTube and the perfect YouTube camera set up. The reality is that camera gear and camera accessories are extremely expensive, and it really isn’t something that you absolutely need to start your YouTube journey. While you do need to have a camera that can record goo quality videos, quite often, the best camera might be the camera that you already have, like on your smartphone. Our YouTube journey is just beginning, and we felt the same fears of not having the top of the line camera equipment and we simply couldn’t afford to purchase all of that at the beginning so we started filming with our iPhone. There are some things that we feel you should have to ensure you have good audio and recording quality. We cover what’s my camera gear, and the programs that we use to edit our videos. We do most of our recording on a boat in the elements of the Atlantic ocean. For us, we felt that an action camera would work perfectly for our application. We went with GoPro and purchased one GoPro Hero 10 black action camera. We have since added two more GoPro hero 10 cameras to our camera bag so that we can shoot multiple camera angles at the same time. You can mount your GoPro cameras in a GoPro Media Mod case if you would like. We have the GoPro cameras mounted in a Ulanzi GoPro Case. The Ulanzi GoPro VLOG case is made out of aluminum which makes it very durable for us on the water. The Ulanzi GoPro camera cage has a housing slot to insert the GoPro mic adapter. This adapter enables you to connect an external microphone for even better audio quality. We then use mounts from Seasucker to mount the cameras on our boat. The Seasucker GoPro mount is an excellent choice to mount the cameras and it holds them perfectly no matter the elements. From there, we have a shotgun mic on the cameras to capture higher quality audio. The options for a shotgun microphone are endless and you can also find yourself in a rabbit hole searching for the best microphone for YouTube. Finding the best mic for YouTube can also feel like an endless journey. For our camera set up, we went with the Rode Shotgun Mic. We feel this is the best shotgun mic for our application and this is a very affordable option. Rode has many microphone options, and we went with the Rode Video Mic Go. We have this microphone on two of the cameras and we love the audio quality. We also use the Rode Wireless Go. This is a wireless lavalier microphone. Having a wireless microphone really increases the quality of your audio, specifically your voice, and eliminates background noise. Purchasing a wireless microphone can also seem like a daunting task because there are a lot of companies that advertise as the best wireless microphone. We have tried multiple wireless microphones, and we feel that the Rode Wireless Go II microphone gives us excellent audio quality. This microphone comes in two different options. You can purchase the Rode Lavalier Go which has one microphone receiver or the Rode Wireless Go 2 which has two microphone receivers. Then I would recommend that you have a camera bag so that you have a proper camera gear storage system. We used a regular backpack for a long time but being on a boat, we were afraid of damaging the camera gear with impact from the waves. We recently purchased the pelican camera case. The pelican hard case also has foam on the inside to safely secure the camera gear. So, whether you are a filmmaker, travel photographer or a content creator, having a camera bag or a camera case is very important to ensure you protect your camera gear investment. For us, the pelican case for camera gear is an excellent choice. Lastly for editing we use a combination of Adobe Premiere Rush and Adobe Premiere Pro. Adobe Premiere Rush is a very easy to use software and it also allows you to edit on your mobile device. Premiere Pro is much more advanced software with a lot of advanced features to take your video editing to the next level. When you complete your Adobe subscription, you will also have access to Adobe Express. We use Adobe Express to create all our b roll templates and our thumbnails.
