FAVORITE TRACK ALERT 🗣️ This song (to me) is the culmination of everything that has been mentioned previously throughout the album. With a hard-hitting and groovy instrumental, great storytelling, great vocal performance, and just overall great feeling... I believe this is one of the more overlooked tracks of the album (or of Cheri's discography in general). I feel that when many talk about disco music, it is already categorized in a way that people think of something like "Saturday Night Fever", Donna Summer's, Bee Gee's, etc. There is nothing wrong with these acts & individuals, however, I do believe that it may be represented better (as misrepresentation of disco led to the Anti-Disco movement sparked by the July 1979 Baseball game that led to a riot and cry for the termination of disco). I start to wonder if this may be the case today. With so many outlets and so many DJs giving ode to the disco era, with major platforms, I wonder if we are making Disco a mere commodity. While there are many great DJ's that put the music as the forefront of everything they do, there are also others that are there for the mere attention and glory of being called a DJ and it is pretty clear who is who. I believe that while Disco is not at its height, a renaissance may occur (for the better) in disco. I pray that DJ's who are taking the time to really dig and explore the genre are able to be given the proper attention they deserve as they will be the ones leading disco & funk music to a new height.
