At 23:01 Friday night, Stations 42, 45 and 44 were sent to 1403 Main Street for a radio report from police of a house fire. Police report fire showing from the 1st floor. Chief 42-52 arrives and reports a working fire on the 1st floor side 2 of a 3-story duplex. Chief 42-53 arrives and takes operations. Chief 42-52 special-calls 1 additional station for a full response. Fire dispatch assigns Lehigh Township Station 47. Engine 42-12 arrives first and positions in front of the fire building and ordered to bring a water supply from 14th and Main Streets and then stretch one hand line to the fire building. Engine 43-11 is ordered to assist P.D. in removing dogs from the exposure. Ladder 43-21 positions in front of the fire building nosed in to Engine 42-12. Engine 45-12 positions in front of the fire building on Main Street. Ladder 47-21 positions on 14th Street and stretches 2 hand lines to the rear of the exposure. Fire arriving engine crews darken down the fire on the first floor within 10 minutes, however the fire is rapidly extending in the walls and within a few minutes the 2nd and 3rd floors of the main fire building are fully-involved. At one point during the battle, evac tones are sounded and all members pulled out of the building. After they re-group and darken down some of the fire from the exterior hand lines, they re-enter both dwellings to hit the hot spots. The fire was under control 1 hour later. Crews spent a few hours overhauling and mopping up. The fire is under investigation.
