Florida Wildlife…for free! Come along with us to see the majesty of being up close and personal to alligators. This video showcases the beauty and wonder of the diverse Florida wildlife and how accessible it is. Also these two activities were completely free! So if you are looking for fantastic ideas to see the real Florida; or if you would simply like a break from expensive theme parks; these are two places where you can reconnect with beautiful Floridian nature that are well worth a visit. The first place we feature is Circle B Bar Reserve which is very near to Lake Hancock, a former cattle ranch on the northwest shore. This reserve boasts a wide variety of plants and animals. Its name is rather unimaginative and does not reflect that this is a place of beauty and wonder. The reserve is huge 1,267 acres and what’s more you are almost guaranteed to see alligators in Lake Hancock. This wildlife reserve was acquired by Polk County and the Southwest Florida Water Management District in December 2000 to protect the valuable water and wildlife resources and to restore the Banana Creek marsh system. There are a variety of well maintained trails you can take to explore the incredible ecosystem. It's a half-mile hike to the lake, where you're almost sure to see alligators but there is so much wildlife to see. Each trail has a name which suggests the wildlife you maybe lucky enough to encounter along the route The address for Circle B Bar Reserve is 4399 Winter Lake Rd.Lakeland, FL 33803 The opening times are;  6 am — 6:30 pm (Standard Time)  5:30 am — 8 pm (Daylight Savings Time) Our second spectacular nature visit takes us to Lake Apopka, this is a wildlife drive. Here you can see alligators and other wildlife from the safety and comfort of your own car. You can also get out of the car if you would like a closer look at the wildlife This wildlife drive is like being in a real life safari park however it is only open between 7am and 3pm Fridays to Sundays last entry at 3pm as it closes at 5pm and takes at least 1.5 hours to drive the 11 mile one-way circuit. Give yourselves plenty of time as you will see so much and It isn’t always clear exactly which way to go…and there is a 10 mph speed limit. That said the opportunity to see wildlife up close and personal is amazing and you can do it all from your car. If you are birders like us then this is a world class location as over 360 bird species have been documented as visiting this site. This beautiful place also is a natural habitat for alligators, bobcats, fox, snakes, frogs, butterflies and many other creatures.
